NATIONAL HARBOR, Md.
— The federal government has launched a new application to naturalize American citizens.
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services is offering applicants a $25 application fee, which includes the application form.
The application is the first of its kind and will be administered in partnership with the National Park Service.
Applicants will have up to 10 business days to submit their application.
The U.K. government began allowing Americans to apply for citizenship in 2016 and the U.N. in 2017.
The new application will only allow applications from Americans who are at least 18 years old.
It will only be accepted if the applicant meets a few criteria: they have resided in the U
