Rutgers is in the midst of a massive H-2B program, and it is one of the largest employers in the country, bringing in nearly $7 billion annually.
While the university has been in the spotlight for some time, the application process for this visa is more complicated than that of most other H-3B programs.
The application process, as it currently stands, has some of the biggest hurdles to overcome.
In a video posted to YouTube, Rutgers VP of Communications Jennifer Sulloway talks about how the process works, what it takes to qualify for this special visa, and why it’s not easy for applicants to get through.
Here are some of our favorite questions about the process: What is an H1B?
A H1-B visa is an open-ended work permit that allows employers to bring in up to 125 workers per year.
H1Bs are generally paid at a lower wage than H2B workers.
They may have more education, and may also be able to access some of their family’s wealth.
How does the H-US Visa work?
The H-5A visa is the only type of H-B worker visa available for Rutgers, and is only for workers with at least a bachelor’s degree.
Applicants must have a bachelor degree in a STEM-related field, and at least 16 years of experience working in STEM-relevant jobs.
If you’re applying for the H1b visa, the main questions to ask are, “What is an STEM-based career?” and “What kind of experience are you looking for in this particular field?”
For example, some employers may require that you have a STEM degree, but not necessarily a bachelor of science.
How many H-4 visas are there?
According to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the number of H4 visas is “currently capped at 115,000 annually.”
That means that Rutgers is only allowed to bring on up to 120 workers per fiscal year, with an annual cap of 115,845.
So far, Rutgers has received 3,846 H-H1B visas, of which 774 were awarded to Rutgers employees.
However, there are still a few more to be approved.
The Rutgers H-J2B application deadline is April 14, 2020.
However in 2019, the USCIS extended the application deadline for all the H4 applications for a further four months.
Does Rutgers have to fill out the application in person?
Yes, Rutgers does have to apply in person for the visa.
You can fill out a Form V-160, H-100 Application for a Work Permit, at the Rutgers campus, or at any USIS office.
But be sure to have your Rutgers ID with you when you apply, as the university will need to verify your address with the Rutgers Office of Employment Equity.
Can I apply online?
If a USCIS representative is at your office, they can check your online application, and will be able direct you to the online portal for the new H-6 visa.
Do I need to go to a job interview?
There are some things you can do to prepare for the interview process: Before you interview, you should make sure you’re ready for the process.
Take a look at the requirements for the jobs you’re interested in.
This is especially true if you are a foreign national who may be able find work in the United States.
If your company offers a job in a location other than your home country, you will have to submit a cover letter and resume.
You should also be prepared to answer some questions about your job duties, such as what you do in your home office.
Make sure you’ve got some time on your hands before you start the interview, as you may be asked questions about travel, housing, and other important topics.
You may also have to provide some biographical information, such a name, phone number, email address, and some personal information about yourself.
You will need some documents to prove that you are legally eligible for the job.
You’ll also need to bring proof that you’re a US citizen, which will be an H3B visa.
If this isn’t your first H-8 visa, you can apply for an additional H-9 or H-10 visa if you’re currently in the US.
Will I be paid on time?
It’s unlikely that you’ll receive a pay cut if you apply for this type of visa, since it’s very dependent on your previous work experience.
As an example, if you have four years of work experience, you might not receive a salary cut.
However if you’ve only worked in the STEM fields, you may still receive a cut.
You also have some flexibility.
If, for example, you worked at a restaurant or restaurant catering business, you could be paid $20 an hour.
