The NFL’s most hated team

NFL Network’s Adam Schefter reports that the New York Giants are on the verge of signing cornerback Marcus Gilchrist, who the team reportedly would like to add to its defense.

The Giants are in need of help at the position, as the team lost safety Reshad Jones in free agency.

Gilchrist, a free agent, is the first cornerback in the NFL since Marcus Peters in 2015 to play in more than 50 games.

He spent his first four seasons in New York and has been an All-Pro.

He spent his entire rookie season with the Rams, and the Giants had to settle for a fifth-round pick after he was traded to Tampa Bay in 2018.

The 32-year-old Gilchrist has missed only one game this season, recording a team-high three tackles in a Week 10 win over the Arizona Cardinals.

The Rams lost their next three games by double digits.

Gilbridges contract with the Giants would be worth approximately $6 million over the first two years of his deal.

Gilmore is the No. 8 cornerback in Pro Football Focus’ annual top 100, according to the rankings, behind No. 1s Vonn Bell and Jourdan Lewis.
